A brief guide to the new “Economics B” A level In common with all other new A levels, Economics B is a two-year course which is examined in its entirety at the end of the second year.  While students may take an AS level at the end of Year 12 the mark they receive does not contribute towards their final A level in any way.  This means that the A level grade awarded depends entirely on the result of the Year 13 summer examinations.
Economics B consists of three Papers. Paper 1 examines the microeconomic parts of the specification which correspond to Themes 1 and 4.  Paper 2 follows the same pattern by examining the macroeconomic parts of the specification from Themes 2 and 3.  Typically students will have studied Themes 1 and 2 in Year 12, and if they have sat an AS level it will have been on this content.  Then they will have studied Themes 3 and 4 in Year 13.  The A level then examines all four Themes at the end of Year 13.
Finally, Paper 3 examines all four Themes together and is based around annual pre-release material, which is made available from Edexcel in the November before the examinations.
Here at Anketell Training we are offering three Revision Days over the summer half term immediately before the three examinations on the 5th, 12th and 15th June 2018 respectively.  Each Revision Day covers one of the three papers. Students are advised to come to all three days to cover all the examinations.
